Former Mets pitcher turned broadcaster Ron Darling announced on Monday that he has been diagnosed with thyroid cancer.  The 58-year-old made the announcement on Twitter and said his doctors are optimistic that his cancer is treatable.

Darling added that he should be able to return to the broadcast booth in a month or so.  Doctors made the discovering after removing a mass from his chest back in April.

We hope Darling’s treatment goes well and he makes a speedy and full recovery.  We’ll miss his terrible insight into the game while he’s gone.  Get well soon.
