Radio legend Don Imus passed away at age 79 on December 27th after complications from a lung disease.  He was hospitalized three days prior to his death.

He might be best know for racially insensitive comments he made about the Rutgers Women’s Basketball team back in 2007 that cost him his radio show and TV show on MSNBC.

Imus called the Rutgers team “nappy-headed hos” on air after they lost the NCAA championship game to Tennessee.  He would apologize and return to radio and TV in 2009.

Rutgers head coach C. Vivian Stringer responded to the death by offering up condolences to his family.
