Angels pitcher and designated hitter Shohei Ohtani is on pace to face live pitching next week. While the Tommy John procedure he had will prevent him from taking the mound this season, he should be able to contribute with his bat.
The next step for the Angels is to figure out if Ohtani will take those swings in simulated game or a rehab assignment.
Shohei Ohtani saw the doctor today and, if all goes well, he will start facing live pitching in a week. They haven’t decided how he’ll do that (sim games or a rehab assignment). #Angels

This season is shaping up to be another miserable one for the Angels.
