A prankster tricked Boston Herald writer, Ron Borges, into believing that Tom Brady was threatening to sit out of OTAs after Jimmy Garoppolo’s signed a massive contract with the 49ers.

Borges believed he received the information during a text exchange with Brady’s agent Don Yee.  But in reality he was exchanging text messages with a regular WEEI caller named Nick in Boston.

Instead of double checking the alleged facts, Borges ran with the story and the Boston Herald printed it on the back page of their paper.  They have since pulled the story off their website.

What a brilliant move by Nick in Boston.  Getting a member of the media to retweet a fake Twitter account is one thing, getting them to print it on a newspaper is next level.
