The NFL officially kicked off the 2018 season on Thursday night with the two NFC champions from the last two seasons facing off in Philadelphia.  It didn’t take long to have a controversial interpretation of the catch rule to make an appearance.

Falcons receiver Julio Jones appeared to make a catch along the sideline after momentarily bobbling the ball, but it was ruled incomplete.  They even took a closer look at the play and still ruled that it was not a catch.

So much for the rules changes that were supposed to help clarify what a catch is.  It took just one game for it to all be called into question again.
