Twins third baseman Marwin Gonzalez and Tigers first baseman Niko Goodrum both left Friday night’s game early after an unfortunate collision at first base.

Goodrum jumped to catch an errant throw to first and caught Gonzalez in the forehead with a flying knee as he reached the base.

After exiting the game, Gonzalez was evaluated for a concussion and was cleared.  He’ll has a facial contusion and will be examined again on Saturday.

That’s definitely good news for Gonzalez.  He now knows he can take a flying knee to the head while wearing a helmet.
