The entire NBA is waiting for Kawhi Leonard to make his free agency decision. Not only are there other free agents that will sign following his signing, but there are other players that could be traded depending on where Kawhi signs.
One of those players is Raptors center Marc Gasol. Despite exercising his $25.6 million player option to stay in Toronto, he could play elsewhere next season.
According to Brian Windhorst, Gasol could be traded if Kawhi doesn’t return to Toronto, via ESPN:
…if Kawhi Leonard doesn’t return to the Raptors. Toronto would have to pivot in that case and Gasol could be a tool for a deal, as he’s in the final year of his deal and will make $25.6 million.
Gasol would probably prefer to stay with the champs and make another run at a ring. The $25.6 million made the opt-in a no-brainer, but playing on a championship team is a no-brainer as well, especially when he spent so much time in Memphis.
