Last season, things didn’t go so well for three teams in the Premier League. AFC Bournemouth, Watford FC, and Norwich City finished last among twenty football clubs and got relegated down to the Championship.

Although the 2020/21 season has started recently, the three relegated teams seem determined to stay the course according to the current standings. In this text, we’ll assess their chances of keeping up the good work and getting straight back to the Premier League.

AFC Bournemouth

AFC Bournemouth is currently ranked fourth on the Championship table, which is the lowest among the three relegated teams. They were caught by surprise when their manager, Eddie Howe, decided to leave this summer.

The transfer period didn’t mean much for the Cherries — most of their players came back from the loan, while the club said goodbye to many vital names. The latest departures include Kyle Taylor, Harry Arter, and Jordan Ibe.

Nevertheless, AFC Bournemouth appears to be doing just fine as they have lost only one game from the beginning of the season. Perhaps this is the year when younger players will get more time on the field and get ready to level up next season.

Watford FC

After five years in the Premier League, Watford FC lost their grip and found themselves among the crowd in England’s second tier. The reason for this occurrence might be that, throughout the year, the Hornets replaced their whole team — one by one, they let go 21 players.

The change occurred among the management as well, and Vladimir Ivić got a chance to help Watford get back on track and return to the Premier League as soon as possible. Furthermore, the owner of the club, Gino Pozzo, stated he would do everything in his power to launch the Hornets back to the top tier league.

At the moment, Watford is the second-best in the Championship, which is great considering it’s left without a key figure Danny Welbeck. However, it will have to work its way through the upcoming matches if it wants to stay at the top of the list and get a return ticket for the Premier League.

Norwich City

The third team that went through relegation is Norwich City that’s currently occupying the third place on the Championship. The Canaries were rightfully levelled down after they lost all nine games in the second part of the Premier League last season.

Due to the insufficient financial means, Norwich City tried to do its best with its budget. We’ll be seeing Xavi Quintilla and Oliver Skipp giving their best to help the Canaries join the upper league one more time next season.

Conclusion

Although the 2020/21 season is not even halfway through, we can say that relegated teams have the potential for returning to the big league faster than they fell out of it. They have all done a great job so far and remained in the top five teams in the Championship. Hopefully, they will remain motivated throughout the season and get a chance to shine in the Premier League again.
