Irish UFC fighter Conor McGregor hasn’t stepped into the Octagon since he lost to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018. However, the man himself has hinted that he will fight again before the end of 2019. Naturally, the rumor mill is in full flow in regards to Mcgregor’s potential opponent.

Freetips.com suggests that several fighters are in line to take on the former two-weight world champion. Today, we will take a closer look at some of the names on that list. Whatever happens, the Dublin-born fighter is sure to put on a show. Here are some of his potential rivals.

Justin Gaethje

Justin Gaethje is one of the fiercest fighters in the lightweight division right now. The American has won 21 of his 23 professional fights. What’s more, he’s secured first-round victories against Donald Cerrone and Edson Barboza earlier this year. Gaethje could cause McGregor some serious problems if a bout is confirmed.

Furthermore, the Colorado-born wrestler has won a host of major awards, including the 2018 Fight of the Year. We are huge fans of Justin Gaethje and would love nothing more than to see a showdown between him and Conor McGregor later this year.

Dustin Poirier

Poirier is one of the most seasoned fighters on the UFC roster. Like Mcgregor, he lost his last fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov, but the 30-year-old did pick up a win after an epic clash with Max Holloway in April.

Poirier and McGregor have fought before. The pair met at UFC 178 back in September 2014. The Irish man knocked his counterpart out on the night. Would he do it again? A lot has changed since then, but there’s no doubt that McGregor has the best left hook in the industry. We would love to see Dana White confirm this fight.

Khabib Nurmagomedov

This is the fight that Conor wants the most. He has gone on record and stated that he’s desperate to set the record straight after his defeat last year. However, it’s hard to see how this bout could happen. Khabib is the best in the business, and McGregor hasn’t fought since 2018.

If the pair do meet, Nurmagomedov would be the clear favorite. The Russian made Conor tap after four grueling rounds last time out. However, there’s plenty of bad blood between the two. If this rematch did happen, it would attract the interest of every UFC fan around the world.
