The Winnipeg Jets lost on Monday night 4-1 to the Arizona Coyotes.  They could have lost much more than the game after winger Brandon Tanev took a rocket of a shot to the back of his head.

Lucky for Tanev the helmet did its job.

Prior to his teammate, Tyler Myers, unleashing the rocket slap shot, Tanev was pushed to the ice by a defender.  As he was falling Tanev could see Myers getting ready to take the shot and was able to turn away from it.

The puck still hit the back of Tanev’s helmet at a high rate of speed and he needed a few moments to to gather himself before making his way off the ice.

Those are the kinds of shots that will have you second guessing the sport you’ve decided to play.  He’s really lucky that didn’t get him in the face.
