Tampa Bay Buccaneers coach Bruce Arians didn’t mince words Monday when he opened his news conference by criticizing officials for an early whistle that cost his team a go-ahead touchdown late in Sunday’s 27-23 loss at the Tennessee Titans.
With 3:45 to go in the fourth quarter, the Titans lined up for a field goal and faked it.
Bucs linebacker Devin White tackled the holder, Titans punter Brett Kern, stripping him of the ball.
Safety Andrew Adams recovered it and ran it in for what would have been a touchdown.
But an early whistle blew the play dead, so it was instead ruled a turnover on downs.
