Rockies outfielder Carlos Gonzalez hit a home run 473 feet against the Reds at Great American Ball Park. It was just the 32 year old’s 5th on the season.
The homer was the longest homer ever hit in Cincinnati in the nerd, I mean Statcast era. The Rockies would win the game 9-6.
473 feet, and @CarGo5 knew it.
The @Rockies slugger just hit the longest HR at Great American Ball Park since #Statcast started tracking in 2015. pic.twitter.com/2Z3HFK9CV1

I don’t know about you, but I don’t need Statcast to tell that a ball was destroyed or that it traveled a long way. Exit velocity, launch angles and home run distances are for losers.
You can have your Statcast and Sabermetrics. There’s nothing like the good old fashioned eye test. We all know how Moneyball ended, with PEDs and zero rings.
