A single mom thought Wednesday would be like any other day, until she was gifted a car.
Baltimore native NBA all-star Carmelo Anthony and the Philadelphia-based gettacar gifted Shalita Addison with a 2017 Mazda CX3.
Addison’s current car was in such a bad state that it made it hard for her to get to work and her daughter’s college basketball games.
“I’m just, like, so grateful. I know that, sometimes you don’t think prayer works, you know?” Addison said. “It makes you think, keep pursuing your dreams and sometimes everything doesn’t work out, but they always will.”
While mom was unaware of the surprise, her daughter, Taylor Addison, was in on it the whole time.

She said it was a secret she almost revealed too soon.
“We were just talking about this last night. In 10 years, we are going to laugh about this because I know the situation,” Taylor Addison said.
Shalita Addison said that because she is a single mother, the donation is a lifesaver.
