Retired Super Bowl champion Chris Long was a guest on “The Dan Patrick Show” on Wednesday and talked about marijuana in the NFL. The league is going to look at the benefits the drug may have as an alternative medicine in pain management.
Long revealed that he enjoyed his fair share of the drug throughout his playing days and added that the league only testing for recreational drugs once a year is silly.
“I’m not a dry snitch, I’m not going to put a percentage on how much the league smokes, but I certainly enjoyed my fair share on a regular basis throughout my career. If not for that, I’m not as capable of coping with the stresses of the day-to-day NFL life.”
There have numerous cases of former athletes struggling with addiction to painkillers. If marijuana can cut down on that then it’s worth a shot.
