Cristiano Ronaldo again denied allegations that he raped a woman at a Las Vegas hotel room in 2009, writing on Twitter on Wednesday that it is an “abominable crime” and that the claim is being made “by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense.”
“I firmly deny the accusations being issued against me,” Ronaldo wrote on Twitter. “Rape is an abominable crime that goes against everything that I am and believe in. Keen as I may be to clear my name, I refuse to feed the media spectacle created by people seeking to promote themselves at my expense.

Police have reopened their investigation into the incident at Mayorga’s request. On Tuesday, Mayorga’s attorney, Larissa Drohobyczer, said Mayorga would not give interviews because she is “emotionally fragile.”
Attorneys representing Mayorga are scheduled to hold a news conference in Las Vegas at 3 p.m. PDT.
