Damian Lillard and the Portland Trail Blazers have agreed to a 4-year, $196 million super max extension.  The deal will reportedly be finalized at 6 p.m. eastern, when the free agency signing period officially begins.

The deal makes sense for both sides.  The Blazers need to keep their star in Portland and Lillard seems to really enjoy being the man in a smaller market like Portland.

The Western Conference is getting more competitive as we speak and Portland isn’t likely to take out any of the top teams, but losing in the playoffs year after year is made easier with $196 million.
