After signing free agent quarterback Nick Foles to a 4-year, $88 million deal, it was only a matter of time before the Jaguars released Blake Bortles.

That moment finally came on Wednesday evening when Jacksonville made it official with an announcement on Twitter.

Bortles has now seen it all in just five years in the NFL.  He’s gone from a first-round draft pick, to leading his team to the AFC Championship game, to being released.

What a ride it has been.

The next chapter for Bortles will likely introduce him to the world of being a backup quarterback in the NFL.  It’s not a bad gig for those willing to wait for the starter to get hurt.
