UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier wants another shot at light heavyweight champion Jon Jones before he calls it a career.  Their prior two fights ended with Jones getting his arm raised.

Jones says the only way he will fight Cormier is at light heavyweight and that’s just fine with DC, who wants to beat him at the weight the prior two fights took place at.

Jones doesn’t think it will ever happen and said it would be devastating for Cormier to cut the weight just to lose to him again.

Via MMA Junkie:

“He’s definitely never coming back to light heavyweight,” Jones said. “He says it, but there’s no way he’s coming back to light heavyweight. To commit your life to lose that type of weight and to come up short again would be so devastating. It would take an incredible amount of courage to attempt it, and to come up short would just be so devastating. I doubt he’d put himself through that for a third time.”

Why Cormier still wants to fight Jones is beyond me.  He has nothing left to prove.  He’s beaten some of the sport’s toughest men.

A win, after two losses to Jones, doesn’t magically erase the losses.  He would have still beaten you two out of three times.

Another loss to Jones would just cement even further the fact that he can’t beat him.  It’s a lose-lose for DC.
