The Panthers made the decision to move on from head coach Ron Rivera earlier this week and they’ve reportedly made the same decision when it comes to quarterback Cam Newton.  According to the latest, the team plans to trade the former NFL MVP to the highest bidder.

Newton is coming off of two injury filled seasons, in which, he didn’t play up to his full potential, mainly due to the injuries.  He will have surgery on the Lisfranc injury in his left foot this week.  He had been hoping rehabbing the injury would allow him to get back on the field this season.  That was not the case.

Carolina will not simply trade Newton just to trade him.  If they aren’t able to get a deal they’re looking for and if he can prove he’s healthy enough to play, they could hold onto him.
