Spur Pau Gasol announced today, only one day ahead of the season-opener, that he is engaged.
The 38-year-old has been dating Catherine “Cat” McDonnell since before he joined the Spurs in 2016. He announced their upcoming nuptials in a romantic Instagram post, showing the bride-to-be smiling up at him.
McDonnell, 29, frequently shares sweet moments with her now-fiance via Instagram as well as highlighting her work as director of communications for TESS Research Foundation.
The foundation funds research to find treatment options of a cure for Citrate Transporter Disorder, described as “a genetic neurological disorder associated with the gene SLC13A5” and life-threatening epilepsy, according to the website. Also according to the future Mrs. Gasol’s profile, she earned her communication management degree from the University of Southern California and is the aunt of two children diagnosed with SLC13A5 deficiency.
In April, Gasol partnered with TESS Research Foundation for the “One Day One Dream,” a 2-week long sweepstakes. Winners got courtside seats to the Spurs-Warrior game.
