Redskins head coach Ron Rivera discussed his new team’s quarterback situation on the “Doc and Galdi” show.  He said rookie Dwayne Haskins needs to take more of a leadership role, before dropping some surprising news.

Rivera’s surprising news is that the Redskins aren’t counting out the possibility of Alex Smith returning as the team’s starter.  He hasn’t played in the NFL since suffering a gruesome leg injury back in 2018.

That doesn’t matter to Rivera.  If Smith is healthy there will be a quarterback competition in Washington according to the new head coach.
