Richard Sherman’s free agency didn’t last long.  The former Seattle Seahawks defensive back made only one visit before finding a new home.

Sherman agreed to a three year deal worth $39 million.

Richard Sherman’s free-agency tour began with the San Francisco 49ers, and it won’t extend beyond the Bay Area.

The veteran cornerback has agreed to a three-year deal with the 49ers worth $39 million (including a $5 million signing bonus), NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported.

Sherman is excited about playing for the 49ers, an organization that has a history of great defensive back play.  He texted NFL Network analyst Steve Wyche to share those feelings.

“I’m excited. A lot of HOF DBs have gone through this incredible organization and I am looking to uphold that standard.”

This is a pretty big signing for the young 49ers team.  Even if he’s not the Legion of Boom Richard Sherman, he should be a welcomed upgrade on the defensive side of the ball.
