Mike Tomlin was asked about Le’Veon Bell’s absence this year compared to last. He gave a one word answer.

Conner rushed for 100 yards on 19 carries with 7 catches for 61 yards in the preseason. He’s taken the first-team reps since training camp opened in late July.

Linebacker Vince Williams said Conner has “turned the page” with play resembling a savvy veteran.

When asked directly about Bell, guard Ramon Foster pivoted to Conner. “I trust James,” he said. “He’s ready.”

This is all just talk, we know they want Bell back, but to think talking highly of James will persuade him to come back any quicker is just hogwash.

Last year, Conner rushed for 144 yards on 32 carries before a Week 15 knee injury ended his season.
