The Sharks and Golden Knights renewed their rivalry in the NHL season opener Wednesday night, but one of the key characters who has played a major role in building that up wasn’t in Vegas to participate.

That’s because San Jose winger Evander Kane is suspended for the first three games of the season for abuse of an official in the preseason finale, also in Vegas.

Kane, who has been a frequent target of the Golden Knights, was one yet again Wednesday despite not actually playing in the game.

Prior to puck drop, the T-Mobile Arena video board operator had a little fun at Kane’s expense.
