Wildcard Weekend found many fans and sports experts alike wondering if this is the end of a dynasty for the New England Patriots. With a track record of success for most of the last 20 years, the Patriots loss to the Tennesee Titans was astounding, to say the least.

The Patriots started the game as a 4.5-point favorite, meaning that a winning score of 5 or more points would have won for the sports bettors. Unfortunately, they ended up with a 20-13 loss to the Titans after failing to score a point in the second half.

Ending the game by going 20-for-37 for 209 yards – with an interception and zero touchdowns – Brady also may have ended his long-running career for the Patriots.

What’s Next for Tom Brady?

42-year old Tom Brady’s contract is up after this season and while he was vague about his future prospects, he didn’t rule out the possibility that he’ll return to the Patriots in 2020. Amidst speculation that he’ll retire and hang up his cleats instead, he told reporters that it’s pretty unlikely.

While there’s always the chance that he’ll play for another team instead, Brady has mentioned that he’s had the best career due to playing for Kraft and Belichick over the years. It looks like we aren’t getting any straight answers from Brady himself about what his future holds.

Betting on Tom Brady’s Future

Many people are now placing bets on what the future holds for this famous quarterback. With many sportsbooks offering prop bets, Tom Brady’s future odds stand to win people a large pot of cash.

Prop bets – also known as side bets – don’t affect the outcome of the game and can be placed on nearly anything. Right now people are placing future prop bets on Brady’s likelihood of retiring, switching teams, or even staying with the Patriots.

Other Teams Likely to Take Brady

Many sportsbooks are taking retirement out of the equation entirely and are accepting wagers to see where Brady will land in 2020 – Patriots included. Some teams that are included in sportsbooks include:

  • Maimi Dolphins
  • Denver Broncos
  • Minnesota Vikings
  • Tampa Bay Buccaneers
  • Indianapolis Colts
  • Dallas Cowboys
  • Los Angeles Chargers
  • Las Vegas Raiders
  • Carolina Panthers
  • Cleveland Browns

While some of these teams are not very realistic – it’s hard to imagine Brady joining the Brown – the whole point of a future bet is that the future is unknown. With Brady’s successful track record and timing as a free agent, it’s likely that other teams will actively pursue him. A native Californian, Brady may welcome a chance to play for his home state if the Chargers move their quarterback from his position.

The Colts – long-time rivals of The Patriots – may have an incentive to persuade Brady to come and play for them. There’s nothing worse than utilizing one of the best players from your opponent’s team to brutalize them out on the field.

While Brady is amiss to quiet the speculation surrounding the next move in his career, he did tell reporters that he was willing to explore opportunities “wherever they are.” This could mean that the Patriots will keep him, but he’s also not opposed to moving to another team.

One thing that’s sure, however, is that Brady still loves to play football. He’s mentioned more than once that he still believes he can play at a championship level and that he’s determined to play football into his mid-forties.

There may be no clear path for Brady’s future, but that’s what adds to the fun of future betting. The fact that you don’t know what’s going to happen makes it that much more exciting when you win!
