Why would he do that?

Zion Williamson’s attorneys have filed a legal motion to block a legal inquiry into his eligibility at Duke and whether he received any improper benefits.

The Pelicans rookie is in a court battle with his former agent Gina Ford.  She is accusing Zion of breaching his deal with her company Prime Sports Marketing to sign with Creative Artists Agency.

Ford is suing the No. 1 overall pick for breaking the deal with her and is accusing him of taking illegal financial benefits while at Duke.  She’s attempting to prove he was ineligible for the NCAA because of that.

That would make him ineligible to be protected by North Carolina’s Uniform Athlete Agent Act, which he used as grounds to break the contract with her.
