As expected Duke’s Zion Williamson was drafted by the New Orleans Pelicans with the number one overall pick. It’s been known for months that he was going to be the first pick.
That apparently wasn’t enough for Zion to prepare for the moment. He got the draft started and the crying circle with Maria Taylor.

Has there been a draft in professional sports with this much crying? In addition to all of the tears there was a ton of drafting for others teams because of trades that aren’t official yet.
Overall it wasn’t all that entertaining to watch. They could have held the draft without cameras and just reported on it later.
