Tiger Woods underwent surgery to address post-traumatic arthritis in his right ankle, he announced Wednesday.

The operation, described as a subtalar fusion procedure, is the latest for Woods’ right leg after he suffered severe injuries in a 2021 car accident.

The surgery was performed in New York and deemed successful. No return timeline was given.

Woods most recently played at the Masters. After a record-tying 23rd straight made cut at the event, he withdrew during Round 3 prior to the restart on Sunday, citing an aggravation of his plantar fasciitis.

The 47-year-old has competed in five official events since the car accident in February 2021.
